Balsamic Onion and Mushroom Sauté

Jump to Recipe

I am excited to share with you an easy and versatile recipe. This dish is great with a grilled steak, tacos, pizza, burgers, mac and cheese, pasta, and more! I love the sweetness of the caramelized onions and the tang of the balsamic vinegar. It adds flavor, richness, and makes my heart happy. I hope you enjoy!

first, slice onions. i usually cut the onion in half and then slice with the grain. be sure to have some tissues on deck. i usually cry like a baby.

heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the onion. season with salt and pepper. stir on occasion until onions are translucent.

push the onion to the side. reduce heat to medium. add the mushrooms. season with salt and pepper. cook for about 10-15 minutes until onions are CARAMELIZED and mushrooms are soft.

push the onions and mushrooms to one side. add a little butter to the empty part of the pan. add garlic and saute for 30 seconds. stir everything together.

Add the BALSAMIC VINEGAR and deglaze the pan. cook for about 5 minutes more.

and you’re done! enjoy with your favorite steak (check out my 5 minute ribeye) or on top of your favorite burger!
